How to connect an electrical connection and pump control?

Clamp 1 and 2 are earth (one for electrical connection and one for pump if chosen)

Clamp 3 – NEUTRAL from electrical connection

Clamp 4 – LIVE from electrical connection

Pump control

Zone 1 may be used as either pump control or an actuator. This may be changed when needed.

Zone 1 is preset to control an actuator.

How to activate pump control?

Setting from actuator to pump control:

Attention. Without first choosing zone 1.

  1. HOLD down SELECT until zone 1 flashes (quickly and green)
  2. Release the button shortly and hold down again, until it stops flashing.

Zone 1 is now set to pump control.

Hold down SELECT to see what zone 1 is set to.

– Quick flashes = Actuator

– Slow flashes = Pump control

How to connect a room thermostat to the COMFORT IP unit?

A room thermostat can be used on several zones if needed, but two thermostats cannot be used on the same zone.

On the control unit:
When choosing zones, make SHORT pushes on SELECT. The zone chosen lights up green (fx 3 short pushes when choosing). HOLD down SYSTEM until it flashes ORANGE.

  1. On the thermostat HOLD down SYSTEM until it flashes GREEN or RED.

Green = Connection (The thermostat is connected to the unit)

Red = Connection failed

View video below:

Setting of room thermostats – COMFORT IP

A failed connection may be caused by two things:

  1. The thermostat is too close to the control unit (the distance should be at least half a meter)
  2. The thermostat is already connected to another zone (it then needs to be re-set). View video below:

Why does diode in the unit flash?

The connection to the thermostat is lost, and the unit now runs in anti-freeze mode sending out heat 4 times an hour. Change batteries to solve the error.

What happens to the COMFORT IP unit in case of a power failure?

In case of power failure the programmed data is stored in the control unit.

How fast does a COMFORT IP unit react?

It can take several hours for the control unit to reach – even half a day, for example if a concrete floor is to be heated.

How often does a thermostat call for heat?

About every 10 minutes each thermostat sends a signal to the control unit. If the requested room temperature is not reached, the thermostat will call for heat and the diode lights up on the control unit. The unit will open and close the actuators, until the requested temperature is reached.

How do I re-set a COMFORT IP unit?

  1. Hold down SYSTEM until it flashes ORANGE
  2. Release the button and hold it down again until it stops flashing.

The unit has now been re-sat and runs a start-up program.

MIDISHUNT 2-8 circuits

What is supply and return on MIDISHUNT?

The top bar is supply, while the lowest is return.

View PDF: MIDISHUNT return & supply

Is it necessary to adjust all circuits?

To obtain an optimal function of the system, it is important that the MIDISHUNT is adjusted correctly in terms of flow.

In setting up the control units COMFORT and COMFORT:NET, 24V and 230V, it is not necessary to adjust all circuits in most cases.

How long should the pipes be for each circuit?

The length of the pipe per circuit is calculated in accordance with the dimension of the pipe as follows:

20 mm pipe – max. 120 meters pipe
17 mm pipe – max. 100 meters pipe
16 mm pipe – max. 80 meters pipe
12 mm pipe – max. 70 meters pipe

KVIKSHUNT 2-12 circuits

Is it possible to regulate flow on a KVIKSHUNT?

No, it is not possible to regulate flow on a KVIKSHUNT, because this mixing kit is not equipped with a pre-setting device. Therefore, you need to use a manual modulating control unit, such as COMFORT and COMFORT:NET.

Man kan ikke regulere flowet på en KVIKSHUNT, da denne shunt ikke er udstyret med forindstilling. Derfor SKAL der anvendes et selvmodulerende styresystem, som f.eks. COMFORT, COMFORT:NET.

How do you set the UPM3 pump?

The UPM3 pump is equipped with a push-button setting and 5 LED indicator lights. On the pump setting, choose the setting “CP2” via a constant push on the button. This is indicated with 1 green and 2 yellow LED indicator lights. In cases of larger plants or long heating pipes, choose the setting “CP3”. This setting is indicated with 1 green and 3 yellow LED indicator lights.

How long should the pipes be for each circuit?

The length is calculated in accordance with the dimension of the pipe, as follows:

20 mm pipe – max. 120 meters pipe
17 mm pipe – max. 100 meters pipe
16 mm pipe – max. 80 meters pipe
12 mm pipe – max. 70 meters pipe

BALL VALVES

Do ball valves need maintenance?

Not per se but it is adviced to follow the product information delivered with the ball valve.

Do Pettinaroli valves need to be lubricated before use?

Generally no. However, some fittings and valves have a type of teflon coating on the thread. This should be lubricated before use to avoid leakages.

To fit on ISO 7 or ISO 228 threads. Threads have to be cleaned and well kept. Add tightening material, if the threads have a too large tolerance. When disassembling and re-assembling the tail, add new tightening material. Use acid free oil or silicone spray.
